Luella Johnson, 95, of Newhall, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wed., August 5, 2009, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Jack McClure as Celebrant. Visitation will be held Tues., August 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s & St. Paul’s Cemetery, Watkins.
Luella was born March 10, 1914, to Albert A. and Julia Sevening Boddicker. She married Howard W. Johnson on September 26, 1939. They lived and raised their family on the family farm east of Newhall. While her mind never failed, her body was worn out. Her life and her loves were her family and the farming/dairy operation she and her husband shared until their retirement.
She is survived by her children: Gerald (Marilyn) Johnson of Newhall; Mary (Gary) Billick of Cedar Rapids; Robert Johnson of Newhall; Patricia (Tom) Brown of Franklin, KY; Martha (Bob) Handley of Toddville; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, George Fahnle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Sheila Johnson; grandson, Brett Handley; three brothers; and three sisters.
